In Ukraine, Hepatica's initiatives build resilience amid conflict by advancing women's and youth leadership, anti-corruption efforts, and regional security.

YOU IN / Ukraine's Youth Council

Hepatica supports YOU IN and the Youth Council under the President's patronage to elevate youth in Ukraine's political processes. The project aims to strengthen youth's role in political decision-making in Ukraine through collaboration between "Platform for Promoting Youth Initiatives," YOU IN, and the Youth Council, a cross-party council for youth issues under Ukraine's president.

It contributes to democratic development by promoting representation, and influence for youth and women in political structures. Through strategic initiatives, events, and knowledge exchange along with a stable administrative foundation, a platform is created to engage young people in the country's future democratic development. Through administrative aid, forums like Youth Day and Young Veterans, and international exchanges, we facilitate dialogue, veteran reintegration, and inclusive structures, nurturing diplomatic ties and civic participation for a youth-led democratic future. Activities include administrative support with full- and part-time positions, Youth Day Forum 2025, Young Veterans Forum 2025, Military Prayer Breakfast 2025, Conference on the Return of Ukrainians to Their Homeland (January 2026), educational conference on school reforms, conference on preserving Ukrainian culture, and expanding national and international exchanges.

National Prayer Breakfast

Hepatica is a partner to Ukraine's National Prayer Breakfast, a unifying forum under the President's auspices that gathers leaders for reflection on unity, democracy, and peace. The National Prayer Breakfast in Ukraine is a significant forum with international participation, aiming to gather decision-makers, religious leaders, civil society representatives, and diplomats to jointly reflect and discuss Ukraine's future.

The event, conducted for the second year under the protection of Ukraine's president, emphasizes the importance of unity, democracy, and lasting peace in the country. Through strategic discussions and prayer, Ukraine's path to the West, security policy, and global societal issues are highlighted. Amid threats, it highlights Ukraine's Western path and global issues, strengthening democratic movements through dialogue among policymakers, religious figures, and civil society. The purpose is to strengthen social cohesion, national unity, and international support through a platform for dialogue between state, civil, and religious actors, focusing on Ukraine's democratic future and path to the West.

Black Sea Security Forum

Hepatica co-funds the Black Sea Security Forum in Odesa, uniting leaders to tackle threats to democracy in the region. The second edition of the Black Sea Security Forum (2025) gathered more than 650 guests in Odesa instead of the 400 expected. Over two days, the iconic Odesa Opera hosted decision-makers, parliamentarians, military leaders, and experts from over 40 countries.

The forum received extensive media coverage in Ukraine and internationally – and was even mentioned in Russian propaganda programs – underscoring its impact. By enabling discussions on security and resilience, we bolster political parties, movements, and networks, enhancing capacity and inclusive processes for regional stability. The purpose is to strengthen democratic party structures, networks, and change actors in the Black Sea region by creating a platform for political dialogue, security cooperation, and democracy defense.

Support AntAC

Hepatica backs the Anti-Corruption Action Center (AntAC) in combating corruption in Ukraine's defense sector through transparency, accountability, and civil oversight. The project aims to promote democratic values and fight corruption in Ukraine's defense sector, aligning with the goal of contributing to democratic, and well-functioning political parties, democracy movements, and change actors.

By creating increased transparency, integrity, and accountability in the defense and security sector, civil control is strengthened, contributing to more stable and sustainable societal governance. Activities include scrutinizing procurements, advocating reforms, and networking with authorities and civil society, with emphasis on engaging youth and underrepresented groups to foster sustainable democratic progress. The project strengthens democratic development through anti-corruption, knowledge sharing, and networking between organizations, authorities, and civil society, integrating future perspectives by engaging youth and promoting environmental considerations.

Ukrainian Women's Leadership Development Program

Hepatica, in partnership with the International Republican Institute (IRI) and Women's Democracy Network Ukraine (WDN-UA), strengthens Ukrainian women's leadership in local and regional democracy. Russia's full-scale invasion has imposed massive strains on societal institutions but highlighted women's central role in democratic resilience, leading in civil society, local crisis management, humanitarian efforts, entrepreneurship, and defense of democratic values.

Yet, women's representation in formal decision-making, especially in local governance and reconstruction, remains insufficient, risking policies that fail to reflect population needs. The program offers academies, exchanges, and capacity building to boost skills, foster political-executive collaboration, and drive needs-based reconstruction for inclusive governance and recovery. Overall goal: Strengthen Ukrainian women's actual opportunities for leadership, influence, and representation in local and regional democracy as part of Ukraine's democratic reconstruction and peace process. Expected results include significantly strengthened leadership capacities, increased collaboration between local assemblies and municipal managements, improved local policy development linked to reconstruction, more women ready to run in local elections, a stronger national network for female political leadership, and contribution to increased local trust in democratic processes.

Hepatica focuses on empowering democratic movements in Belarus by supporting exile networks and opposition structures to foster sustainable political change.

Supporting Belarus People's Embassies

Hepatica sustains Belarus' people's embassies as a network for democratic forces in exile. The project aims to maintain sustainable operations to prevent burnout and resource loss, ensure volunteer ambassadors have visibility and resources to connect with key decision-makers in the opposition and host countries, and establish permanent diplomatic presence in European regions without Belarusian democratic centers.

By resourcing volunteer ambassadors, creating training platforms, and developing policy documents, we enable these embassies to maintain ties with opposition leaders and host countries. The aim is to build resilient organizations that attract more activists and establish permanent diplomatic centers in Europe for dialogue, consular aid, and cultural events, ultimately advancing representative democratic governance in Belarus. Expected effects include the survival of people's embassies, attraction of more committed individuals, and creation of robust organizations.

Support for the Coordination Council of Belarus

Hepatica empowers Belarus' Coordination Council in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), strategic meetings, travel, and language training. The International Commission within the Coordination Council plays a central role in developing, coordinating, and implementing international policy for Belarus' democratic forces, including formulating a common strategy, representing the Council internationally, and collaborating with parliaments.

This enhances international representation in bodies like the EU and Council of Europe, promoting capacity building, networking, and stability to counter authoritarian influences and support political processes toward democratic transition.

Hepatica enhances Armenia's democratic resilience against hybrid threats through education and networking.

Resilience School

Hepatica equips Armenia's youth, political parties, civil society, and institutions with tools to counter hybrid threats and build democratic structures. The "Resilience School" project aims to strengthen Armenia's political resilience by equipping youth, political parties, civil society actors, and state institutions with necessary theoretical and practical knowledge about democratic structures and strategies against hybrid threats.

Through tailored courses led by international experts, participants gain tools to build capacity, develop their leadership skills, and implement small-scale projects that promote inclusion and increased representation, especially for women and youth. The program also enables international networking through participation in global forums and a concluding conference, contributing to forming sustainable, democratic, and well-functioning political structures. Via tailored courses, small-scale projects, and global exchanges, we develop leadership, inclusive dialogue, and political participation—particularly for women and youth—to create a resilient democratic Armenia amid geopolitical challenges. The overall strategy builds on a combination of tailored educational interventions, practical applications, and international networking.

Hepatica nurtures Venezuela's youth as drivers of democratic renewal amid crisis.

Empowering Youth Leaders in Venezuela

Hepatica strengthens young leaders in Venezuela via Victoria Venezuela, fostering democracy through three initiatives: Democracy Academy trains 500 activists in decentralized networks for safe activism; Rebuild Venezuela Summit convenes 30 experts for strategic planning on reconstruction; Ambassadors for Liberty equips 25 influencers in Europe for global advocacy.

The project seeks funding to strengthen young leaders in Venezuela through the Victoria Venezuela initiative. The goal is to create a coalition of young political leaders, policy experts, journalists, economists, human rights advocates, and technology experts to promote democracy and increase political participation. Through three main initiatives, the project will strengthen a new generation of democratic leaders. These efforts build networks of change agents to drive inclusive political processes. The purpose is to strengthen young Venezuelan leaders and change actors through education, organization, and international support. By developing a strong and well-organized youth movement, the project aims to contribute to long-term democratic change in Venezuela. Focus is on increasing political participation, building networks, and creating a foundation for future democratic institutions and political parties.

Hepatica fosters regional democratic leadership among Latin America's youth.

Institute for Conservative Action (IAC)

Hepatica empowers Latin America's youth through IAC, FHRCuba, and Christian Halls, training 350 leaders in democratic principles rooted in conservative and Judeo-Christian values. The project aims to equip and strengthen young democratic leaders in Latin America through a comprehensive educational initiative.

By combining leadership training, networking, and studies of democratic principles with an ethical foundation in historical conservative and Judeo-Christian values, the project seeks to develop a new generation of political change actors. The collaboration takes place between IAC, Hepatica, the Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba (FHRCuba.org), and Christian Halls (Christianhalls.org), creating a unique platform for in-depth education and leadership development. Via seminars, online courses, and exchanges, we cultivate ethical leadership, networks, and inclusive movements for regional stability. The purpose is to develop young political leaders in Latin America through education, mentorship, and international exchanges. It is designed to promote democratic values and ethical leadership while creating opportunities for participants to connect with established politicians and decision-makers.

Hepatica aids Cuba's democratic transition by supporting resistance networks.

Supporting Directorio Democrático Cubano

Hepatica assists Directorio Democrático Cubano and the Assembly of the Cuban Resistance in organizing institutions for Cuba's democratic transition. The project contributes to democratic, inclusive, and well-functioning political parties, democracy movements, and change actors by supporting Directorio Democrático Cubano and the Assembly of the Cuban Resistance in their pursuit of a democratic transition in Cuba.

By organizing the minimal set of institutions required to return sovereignty to the Cuban people, in accordance with the 10 points in the democracy agreement. A central part of this transition is enabling free elections through free multiparty elections across Cuba. These elections shall allow citizens to choose their national, provincial, and local authorities, which is a crucial part of establishing and maintaining a democratic process and structure in the country. Through 10 seminars, a mobile "democratic school," 3+ civic campaigns yearly, and a national platform, we foster a pluralistic movement promoting free elections and rule of law, engaging civil society for enduring change. The project goals include 10 educational seminars in western, central, and eastern Cuba, creation of an ambulatory "democratic school" on Cuba, planning and development of no less than 3 civic campaigns per year on Cuba, and development of a national platform for democratic change on Cuba.
